Keyword research is one of the most important activities in the search marketing field. Always use the right keywords with a high ranking to be ranked on the search engine result page (SERP).
It is not about getting visitors to your website, but about getting the right kind of visitors to create conversion.

What is Keyword research?

Keyword research is when people use a keyword to find and research for search terms that people enter into the search engine. By using valuable keywords you can increase the visitor on your website.

The process which I am going to explain will help you to do keyword research for your Website.

Seed Keywords

Seed keywords are the base of your keyword research, it is nothing but your product name or service name.

It helps you find your competitor and define your niche, with the seed keywords you can come up with your own brainstorming keywords based on how other people might search for it.

Brainstorming Keywords

Using the seed keywords come up with some brainstorming keywords which are related to your business or your product. Try to get in the mind of your customer or audience like how they search in order to find you.

Keywords Competition Research

You have to do a detailed study on the keyword which has competition and it must match the criteria whether the phrases apply to your business or service. And remember that you don’t need to only look at competitors that are doing exactly what you are doing.

Use Research Tools

It has become easy to find the keywords and the competition of the keywords. For every niche business, whether it is Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc there are research tools to discover keywords and other data for SEO.

Some of the most familiar tools are

  • Keyword Planner
  • Ahrefs

5. Understand Keyword Metrics

During the execution of keyword strategy, you’ll find thousands of keywords to decide for your website SEO, you need to shortlist which deserves.

  • Volumes
  • In the tool, you can check the overall volume of the keywords which tells how many people in the world have used the same keyword.

    The tool which I have used on my Google Chrome Extension is (Keywords Everywhere – Keyword Tool).

  • Clicks
  • Each and every keyword has a certain search volume per month (according to Google Keyword Planner). The volume for the word “Keyword” is 450000 per month that doesn’t mean that you will get as many clicks on your website.
    The number of click on the landing page who have used the word keyword.

  • Keyword Difficulty
  • The keyword difficulty tells you how hard it will be to rank your product or service.

  • Cost Per Click
  • Choosing your keywords based on CPC can help you from saving your money. If you’re new to CPC, basically when someone clicks on your ad, you need to pay. If the CPC is set high and if there is no conversion your ad is a waste.

Plan Accordingly for ROI

When you are in your final stage of keyword research, you may have hundreds of keywords, but you should not choose all of them. Better analyze the results and choose the right one which will bring you Return on Investment (ROI). When you are creating a campaign, make sure that you adopt the right keyword which will bring the right visitor.
